There’s nothing we love more here at MySingleFriend than a beautiful success story, and we have a particularly lovely one to share with you today. Tamsin and Nigel met on the site several years ago and very recently got married. Over to them…

“On the longest day of 2019, Nige asked me to marry him.  We'd just reached the summit of the Grand Ballon - the view was amazing.  We're big Tour de France fans and had been cycling in the Alsace - I never saw it coming.  I just stared at him trying to compute what had just come out of his mouth.  We'd been together for ten years.  We met on My Single Friend and it was the loveliest way to meet.  I still can't get over how it can work.  I really liked the messaging back and forth and we knew we had an amazing connection right from the start.  Nige had caught me off guard launching in with an email telling me about a book I'd never heard of.  If he had not taken the plunge and asked me on a date, I would have carried on just messaging him for all time I think - I was enjoying the stories so much.  I also worried that we wouldn't have the same connection in person.  I needn't have worried...  we met on the steps of Richmond Theatre and the butterflies in my stomach have never gone away!

Nige had two young girls who it's been my privilege to watch become two amazing women who astound me every day.  I didn't know how I'd fit in with the girls, whether they would mind me being around, whether I'd be any good as a newly designated adult!  They were amazing and without them I don't think our relationship would have been half as awesome.  We've gone on so many adventures; they shared their love of the outdoors with me and I suddenly found I had this amazing family.  I still look back at the last ten years astounded by the luck of one click of a web page.

We got married on 4th January 2020 at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park.  We've been cycling past it for ten years and I never dreamt I'd be getting married there.  I truly have never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day.  We always joke that this is why we haven't won the lottery - you can only win at so many things!  Nige's girls, Steph and Maddy, fulfilled the role of best man and were our Best Women and did two of the best speeches I've heard at a wedding - they nailed it!  We are just back from a honeymoon in Venice, and snow shoeing in the Dolomites.  I'd never seen snow before outside of Surrey, so I was like a kid totally excited by the snow drifts!

My Single Friend brought us together and I couldn't be more grateful.  I would urge anyone to have a go, but if you do, be yourself.  It's one of those slightly irritating, trite phrases and I always think that it's a fine thing to say if you know what 'yourself' is.  But, put out there what you honestly want back.  I put I was looking for adventure - I didn't really know what I meant, but the heels and make up were making me lonely.  I never expected to feel so different after getting married - I always thought of it as just a bit of paper.  But, we're looking forward to the next set of adventures.  It feels like the start of something new - just like that click ten years ago!”

We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Tamsin and Nigel from all of us here at MySingleFriend, and thank you for sharing this wonderful story with us. Here’s to the next ten years and beyond!
